Leadership is a Calling

(June 16, 2013)

God will not call you into something you do not enjoy. -Rev. Mike Meñez

I am taking this opportunity to share my notes (incomplete, though) from this afternoon's Cross Training with our special guest, Rev. Mike Meñez. In writing this note, I pray that anyone who will have the chance to read this will also share the challenge and have the burden to reach other leaders who might be needing this piece of enlightenment.

LEADERSHIP THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Before we proceed, watch this video first: (Caltex commercial)

Okay, setting aside the humor, the commercial implies this:

"Seeing the need but meeting the wrong need" -- where will this take us? Nowhere, right?

We need to leave a LEGACY behind (a legacy of significance and impact)

Now here are the 6 points that drives a "Leadership That Makes A Difference"

YOUR PASSION
>> Lead with a wholehearted commitment
   At varied levels of difficulty, leadership require...
     * Taking risks
     * Making sacrifices
     * Facing oppositions (every time you make a right decision, oppositions and temptation come.)
     * Long-term commitments
     * Love for the work

YOUR POWER
>> Establish deepening intimacy with God (Phil 3:7-10)
   Leadership requires we spend much time with God...
     * for intimacy
     * for guidance
     * for wisdom
     * for strength

YOUR PROTECTION
>> Aim for a life of purity
   Leadership requires [that] we...
     * be sensitive against sin
     * live blameless
     * live for God's purposes

YOUR PURPOSE
>> Disciple and develop disciplemakers (The Great Commission)
   Leadership requires [that] we...
     * be disciples first!
     * become disciplers for life!
     * build a life of discipleship

YOUR PROVISION
>> Exercise your primary strengths (your giftings are given to you for the common good)
   Leadership is enhanced when we...
     * discover our spiritual gifts
     * keep our motives pure
     * use your gifts for the good of others
     WHERE GOD'S AGENDA IS CHAMPIONED, GOD'S RESOURCES ARE CHANNELED.

YOUR PURSUIT
>> Render due Honor and Glory to God
   Leadership requires [that] we...
     * recognize God's goodness and faithfulness
     * realize God's hand in everything!
     * make sure motives are pure
     * [I missed the slide at this point ... sorry ^_^]

To sum it all up, we have:
>> Lead with a wholehearted commitment
>> Establish deepening intimacy with God
>> Aim for a life of purity
>> Disciple and develop disciplemakers
>> Exercise your primary strengths
>> Render due Honor and Glory to God
